Path will tell Jigimy that he is as confused as the halfling about this mysterious new powers...

---------------------------------------------------------------------

You make your way out of the ruined innyard and into the woods.

Eager to get out of the enchanted swamp, you travel northwards through the fen, heading for the Duchess' Road that once was the major trading route between Hanford and Starmorgan, but now has fallen into disrepair.

It's a beautiful autumn day, and your memories of the horrors you had witnessed the night before fade in the sunshine.

The snow that had fallen yesterday evening is melting, and you almost feel like if it was spring season.

Four hours after leaving the ruins of the Maiden's Rest Inn, the muddy road opens into a clearing on a small hillside that to your surprise is free of snow and dirt.

Under a young oak, the road you have been following meets with another one, a fortified, paved road that, although seemingly old and left unattended, still reflecting some of the majesty of old Tenian architecture.

Rowell orders you stay back, and quickly climbs the hill.

There, he draws his sword and points to the sky...

Jigimy anxiously looks at Path, hoping for an answer. Willing to help him pack up or whatever, if it expedites a response.

"What do you mean...? I don't.. I don't understand.." Path frowns, looking at Jigimy. He drops his backpack for a second. "I'm just so confused, man..." Path holds his right hand on his forehead and closes his eyes. "This is all so strange..."

Path then shakes himself awake, picks up his backpack and says "Come on... Jigimy, was it? We best get out of here..." With that, he motions Jigimy to follow him.

"So tell me.. How come you're so small..?"

At the sight of Rowell holding his sword, Path looks up at the sky, ready to take his bow from his back.

[Reading Fido's Post: Laughing Very cool!]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

On the 15th day of the 10th month at Skelfer's Oak by the Power of the White Dragon! BORELAS!

In the shimmering light of Rowell's magic sword, your environment begins to change right beneath the hill, down in the high grass of the swamps, you suddenly perceive a figure, its face hidden under a cloak of green silk.

The creature obviously not human, approaches Rowell and they exchange the sign of peace.

The mercenary leader then turns to you and bows.

Friends and companions, the time has come for each of us to resume his journeys as we had it planned before that terrible incidents.

Kalen and the other rogues pat you on the shoulders, then move upwards to their master.

My men and I, Rowell continues, will now continue our journey to a place far in the west, where our allies await us to lead them in our very own struggle against the Afridhi oppressors. - Or better, against their former ally, Ran the Coward.
Since you have shown your bravery, I allow those who judge themselves valiant enough, to accompany us.
For those of you who want to search their own luck: If you travel eastwards, you will arrive at Hanford, which was taken back by the Brothers of the Greenwood two days ago. There you should be able to find a ferry that brings you back to more peaceful shores.
Be advised that westwards you will find nothing but destruction and death. The war for Ten has just begun, and the Afridhi don't distinguish take every traveller for a spy.
As far as I know, Silverbell will soon be under siege, and the Westerners will sacrifice the whole population to the Heart of Darkness if they are not stopped.

The young mercenary sighs, and then moves on.

In any case, it has been a pleasure to fight and to drink with you he says, turning from you again, and walking down the hill to swamp.

You Master Ithamis beware. Whoever wants to see you dead is willing to pay a high price for this delight. Take these coins He throws a small purse into Sven's direction.
The seal on them will open you and your friends many doors wherever the Thieves of Maus make their home. Farewell.

With that, Rowell, Kalen, Zoukin Jacob and John, the five mercenaries that had crossed the Misauga river with you, leave on their way to a new journey...

[Next update: Wednesday. I'll answer the PMs tonight. Wink ]

To the mercs: "Thank you, Rowell, I will be wary. Until we meet again, fare thee well! Death to the Afridhi and their ally, the Ran!"

To the rest of the party: "I am bound for Silverbell. With the arrival of the war, it looks like my task there will be more difficult than I first expected. Who knows though, we may get the chance to join the in liberation of the city. Does anyone wish to join me?"

The young half-elf replies: "Your sword would be most welcome, Brumm. Where are you from? And where are you bound? I am from Newgate, though I was born in Ringlo Hall. I have traveled west in the hope of joining the struggle against the Afridhi."

[OOC: Des, I do not have a clear picture of where we are on the road between Hanford and Starmorgan. Are we east of the fork in the road that heads off to Silverbell? Also, the road we walked to get to the Maiden's Rest Inn was also 'fortified'. Was that road a route to Silverbell, too? We need to know what our options are...]

Path doesn't really know what to do and feels a bit at a loss. The thought strikes him that he actually doesn't have a clue about where he is or what he is doing.

He moves to Jigimy indicating that he'll just tag along.

"I just realized what Rowell was telling us. You might all want to reconsider travelling with me since there now seems to be a price on my head. Olar, our former guide, was carrying a letter instructing some unidentified knight to kill me, along with Korm and Itrain. Rowell's green friend must have informed him of this bit of news."

"He also revealed my last name, which I had been trying to keep quiet. Since I can't hide it any more. Yes, I am Sven Ithamis, Prince of the Cumasti elves. My father is Prince Baetho Ithamis, the Cumasti ambassador to the Kingdom of Blackmoor. My grandfather is Menander. And as you can see I am a 'half breed' as Krom was so fond of saying. My mother is Elvira Zvenzen is the daughter of the Baron of Newgate, the current Lord High Regent of the Regency Council. So now you know who I really am."

"Do you still want to travel to Silverbell with me?"

With that I will put the signet ring of the House of Ithamis on my right hand and the ring of the House of Zvenzen on my left hand.

"I'm still willing to travel with you, Prince Sven.....if you'll have me. How much more dangerous than last night could it be?"

Jigimy semi-kneels with that exagerated flourish given royalty.

"What do ya think Draussa? Up for some adventure?"

Jigimy then pats Path on the back... "Chin up, Path, 'tis a new day. Maybe you'll find yourself travelling with us!"

From Draussa:

I fold my arms in a defensive posture. "Hmph...." That is all I will say, but I will also fall in by Jigimy, indicating my willingness to go with him, nonetheless. I am scared like a rabbit.

Sven shakes his head with a sad expression on his face as he watches Brumm and Jigimy.

"Don't mock me. I am no different than I was an hour ago, although now you know why Rowell said there is a price on my head in these parts. It gives you a chance to go your own way. The lumberjack, woodsmen, Mant, Rotfoot and Joseph's family are not necessarily part of this struggle. Of course, one of you might turn me in for the reward, too."
